“Back in 2012 when Addict II Athlete first started, my only form of transportation year-round was a double stroller. I was a single mom in treatment and unemployed. I really wanted to join the team in a 5k but didn’t even have running shoes. A few days before the race Coach Blu gave me a pair of running shoes that had been donated and I was able to not only attend my first 5k, but I crossed the finish line. I finished the race, double stroller and all. The team was aware of how badly I wanted to run that 5k and they helped make it happen. The kindness alone was an emotional experience.” -Chelsie
“AIIA is a life changer for whoever joins the ranks of a Champion — whether you’re a recovering addict, a family member or just a member of the community looking for the good in the world. Addict II Athlete is a place everyone is welcome, celebrated and encouraged to live their best life!
I can’t begin to express how grateful I am to be a part of AIIA and the friendships I’ve gained from it!” -Josh
“I am a former alcoholic who came EXTREMELY close to successfully committing suicide back in 2012 due to the strong effect that binge drinking had on my mental health at the time. I am currently attending classes at Southern Utah University and my ultimate goal is to become a licensed drug and alcohol addiction counselor in the future. I freakin' love AIIA and wish that there were more groups like this out there in society today!” -Nikki
